‘Member Bulletin – October’

NRCC Committee Meeting Summary 18/10/2026

This morning, the NRCC Committee Members met for its latest meeting.

As agreed at our previous meeting, I’m sharing a summary of the discussions and any updates.

Before I do, I’d like to thank all the members who have contacted me following my last summary.  It’s really encouraging to hear your positive feedback and to know that our commitment to being more open and transparent with members is something you welcome and want to see more of.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated and reinforces why we believe keeping members informed and involved is so important.

Day of Champions

The Day of Champions is fast approaching, with just over six weeks to go!

The event takes place on Saturday 28th November at Springfields Events & Conference Centre, Camelgate, Spalding, PE12 6ET.

Doors open at 9:30 am, and the entrance fee remains at just £5 per person.  Please note that payment is cash only, as there are no card facilities available.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to catch up with friends and fellow fanciers, enjoy a coffee and a chat, or perhaps a beer and a chat!

We would love to see as many NRCC members as possible (and non NRCC members too!) attending this special occasion.  With the NRCC presentation taking place, it would be wonderful to see members and their clubmates come along to celebrate their achievements and recognise successes of the season.

We all look forward to seeing you there!

We are delighted to announce that the NRCC will be holding another Futurity Race next year, as members have told us how much they enjoy the auctions (well done to John!) as well as the race itself, with its separate liberation.

Futurity Race 2027

A Futurity Committee will be elected at the AGM on Saturday 9th January 2027 and then further details around the race will be confirmed and announced.

2027 Hand book & Race Pad

Planning is already underway for the 2027 Handbook and Race Pad, with the aim to send them out to all paid up NRCC members in March.

2027 Race Programme

The Committee gave considerable thought to next year’s Race Programme, with plenty of discussion taking place before reaching a decision.

The Committee took into consideration daylight hours, sun rise and sun set times through to London and which order the races should be.

The majority of the Committee felt that Lerwick remains the NRCC’s Blue Riband race, and as such, it was agreed that the Race Programme should conclude with this prestigious race.

The NRCC 2027 Race Programme is as follows:

  • Dunbar: Saturday 15th May
  • Arbroath (or Perth if available): Saturday 29th May
  • Fraserburgh: Saturday 12th June
  • Thurso: Saturday 26th June
  • Lerwick: Saturday 17th July
  • Dunbar YB/OH/Futurity: Saturday 11th September

Subs/Birdage Prices

We are delighted to announce that the Membership Subscriptions for 2027 and the Birdage prices remain the same as 2026!

A discussion took place regarding the recent increase in diesel prices, which have risen by approximately 20%.

The Committee agreed that it would not be appropriate to increase membership subscriptions based on potential future costs.  It was therefore decided that subs would remain at their current rates, however, should diesel prices increase further next year and have a significant impact on racing costs, a diesel surcharge may need to be considered.
