This evening, the NRCC Committee held an emergency meeting after our Weather Advisor and Convoyer raised concerns about the weather conditions in Lerwick for the Saturday 4th July liberation.
The detailed forecast for Saturday 4th and the following days shows rain and strong westerly winds. As the jet stream is not expected to move, these conditions are likely to continue throughout the week.
New Lerwick Schedule
The NRCC Committee has therefore decided to postpone the race by one week to prioritise the welfare of the pigeons. Lerwick marking will now take place on Wednesday 8th July, with liberation scheduled for Saturday 11th July.
Following this decision, both ‘paper and PigeonOnline entries will remain open until 10pm on Sunday 5th July’ for members who wish to enter. Members who have already entered pigeons but are unable to race on Saturday 11th July due to other commitments will receive a refund.
The NRCC Committee would like to thank members for their understanding and while we appreciate this decision will be disappointing for some, the welfare of the pigeons must come first.
Please could we ask you to share this message with fellow members and local WhatsApp groups to help us get this message to as many people as quickly as possible.
Thank you NRCC Committee
