The journey to the King George V Cup Race is officially underway!
The North Road Championship Club transporter has successfully boarded NorthLink Ferries’ MV Hjaltland and is now making the overnight crossing to Lerwick, carrying the hopes and ambitions of 139 NRCC members and 800 feathered athletes.

This is no ordinary race. As the NRCC celebrates its 125th Anniversary, another chapter is about to be written in the proud history of one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious pigeon racing organisations. The transporter is scheduled to dock in Lerwick at approximately 7:30am, where preparations will begin for this iconic race from the Shetland Islands.
The NRCC would like to express its sincere thanks to our race sponsors, Alan Bamford and the team at Top Flight, for their fantastic support, and to NorthLink Ferries for once again providing a first-class service in transporting both our convoying team and our birds safely to Lerwick.
A special word of appreciation also goes to Chris, who stepped up at the last minute to take on the driving duties, and to our Convoyer, Tony Meek, whose willingness to answer the call at short notice has ensured this historic race could go ahead as planned.
Their commitment and dedication to the Club are greatly appreciated by everyone involved.
To every member with a pigeon on board, we wish you the very best of luck in the race for the King George V Cup and the many prestigious awards on offer.
Thank you for believing in the NRCC, for your continued support, and for being part of this landmark 125th anniversary season. Safe journey to Lerwick, and good luck to everyone!
