After much consideration the ‘Futurity Committee’ put it to the club’s president that with no possible chance of a liberation last weekend and having held the birds over for three days and with no chance of a break in the weather the decision was made to return the birds.
We have looked at and considered all the differing views and scenarios and listened to the opinions expressed on the WhatsApp group of what may or may not have been. Pleasing everyone is near on impossible, hence the the following decision was arrived at which all the committee were in favour of is:
In order to be fair to the breeders and the buyers who are the ones that managed to get their birds through what has for many fanciers and organisations has been a most enduring young bird season is that:
The prize money element of the race shall be divided by the 132 birds that were entered into the race and split 50/50 between the breeder and the buyer of each bird.
There are many of lessons to be learnt from the 2024 Futurity and hopefully we will all take something positive from it.
Thank you for your patience in this matter ‘Futurity Committee’
